School and Group Visits
Ages 4 - 11
About your Visit
The Austin Children’s Museum takes pride in providing a safe and joyful place to learn as well as skilled educators who encourage inquiry and discovery. During a guided tour students will be led through the exhibits by a trained Learning Facilitator. The Facilitator will support the students’ exploration of exhibits and lead the group through a unique Inquiry Based Learning experience.
The Facilitator will present activities and ask questions that foster opportunities for thought, curiosity, imagination, cooperation and interaction. Students will explore science, math and art through hands-on exhibits which aim to develop understanding, shape positive attitudes, encourage self-motivated discovery and support a thoughtful pursuit of knowledge.
The Facilitator will also assist you with all logistical aspects of your tour including time management, communicating Museum rules and utilizing chaperones effectively.
Each group will explore 5 exhibit areas and participate in one classroom program lead by the Facilitator.
- Pre-K and Kindergarten students will enjoy a storytime that expands upon the key concepts explored in the exhibit areas.
- Students in grades 1st-3rd will participate in a science demonstration that expands upon the concepts they discover in the Museum feature exhibit.
Do you have an inquiry skill or theme you’d like to focus on during your visit? The Museum offers custom designed guided tours for grades Pre-K through 5th grade. Contact Cybil Gustafson, Education Manager at 512-472-2499 x213 to plan a custom visit. Six weeks notice is needed for custom tours. Additional fee may apply.
