Can our group stay after our tour is complete?
If all or some members of your group would like to stay at the museum after your scheduled tour, regular Museum admission will be applied. The discounted group rate is valid only for the 1 hour 45 minute visit that is led by the Facilitator.

Can my group each lunch at the Museum?
The Museum does not have accommodations for groups to eat. Please plan accordingly.

Can my class come to the Museum and explore on our own?
The discounted group rate applies only to a facilitated tour visit. Due to the Museum’s busy programming schedule and capacity for walk-in visitors, groups of 10 or more may only visit as a part of the facilitated tour program. Groups of less than 10 are welcome to explore on their own any time at regular admission rates.

What is my role as a teacher on the guided tour?
When using Inquiry Based Learning the teacher becomes a facilitator for the learner's own process of discovery and creating understanding of the world. Follow the lead of your museum facilitator when interpreting exhibits and participating in activities. You will provide a great help by assisting with behavioral issues and students who might have special needs that the facilitator is unaware of. Set an example for chaperones by playing an active role in the tour and exhibit interpretation.

How can I prepare my chaperones?
The success of your Museum visit can be affected by how chaperones interact with the students. Share the Parent letter with your chaperones English/Spanish. It’s also a good idea to share the Educator Exhibit Guides or encourage chaperones to visit this website for more information about the Museum Exhibits.

How can I best prepare my class for a visit to the Museum?
A well prepared group will get more from their Museum visit. Read all the information in your confirmation packet. Use the Educator Exhibit Guides. Share the Museum rules with your students before you arrive (these rules will be clarified by your guide but giving your students a head start will assist the guide in communicating the rules) 1)Use your walking feet 2) Use your inside voice 3) Stay together as a group- with your Museum Educator.

How can I justify a visit to the Museum?
TEKS correlations for your grade level are listed in the Educator Exhibit Guides.
Need to justify your visit?
This is a state published document that defines the purpose and rationale behind offering students field experiences.

Do the Tour Guides and Museum Educators speak Spanish?
ACM will do everything we can to provide Spanish speaking guides to all bilingual tours. Unfortunately, facilitators are limited, and we ask teachers to assist with translation when needed. Knowing your needs in advanced will help ACM plan for your group, please book your visits as far in advanced as possible and let the Reservationist know what you need to make your visit a success.
