Description/ Duties: Gingerbread Workshop Assistants will set up and facilitate one of our most popular family programs.  Gingerbread Workshops are a hands-on holiday program designed for families with young children.  In each workshop visitors build and decorate a gingerbread house.  Our workshop assistants work with a Museum Educator to help visitors construct their house, manage supplies and keep the workshop on schedule.

Training provided/ required:
• General Volunteer orientation and application
• Gingerbread volunteer training (The 2nd Wednesday in November 5:30-7:30)

Commitment:  Volunteers must commit to at least 3 workshops per Gingerbread Season.  Each workshop shift is 3 hours.

Shifts: November- December.  Workshop schedule available in October.  Shift sign up occurs at training.

Considerations: Volunteers must be energetic and able to work with groups of families in a fast paced setting.  Must be willing to do light cleaning tasks (dishes, wiping tables, sweeping, etc).

How to apply: All new volunteers will need to complete an application, background check and orientation. The application is available at the link below. Orientations are held every first Wednesday of the month from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Museum.  If you plan to attend, please contact Jessica Wilson, Volunteer Coordinator at 512-472-2499 x210 or jwilson@austinkids.org so you can be added to the roster. Dinner is served for all orientations so RSVP is required.
