What is Museum Career Ladder?
MCL is a volunteer and employment readiness program that offers opportunities to Austin area teens (12-17 year olds) to engage in fun and meaningful work at the Austin Children’s Museum that will prepare them for future endeavors.

What will MCL participants do?
• Interact with up to 200,000 visitors each year.
• Explain hands-on exhibits to a wide variety of audiences.
• Facilitate science demonstrations and art activities.
• Mentor young visitors as well as peers.
• Help facilitate the Museum’s educational programs and workshops (Camps, Gingerbread, Sleepovers, Story Time, Discovery Time, etc).

What makes MCL unique?
• Participants will engage in a series of trainings that support their progress through a series of “Rungs” by mastering new skills. Each rung of the ladder brings new responsibilities and opportunities to participants.
Participants will work in small groups of peers.
• The Museum provides fun and meaningful work experiences.
• Teens will build transferable skills that can be applied to future professional and academic endeavors.
• The program offers choice and flexibility. MCL focuses it’s training on mastering skills in leadership, education, and job skills. MCL is designed to accommodate individual interests and needs.
• Program materials and leadership offer clarity of expectations and attainable goals.
• Participants could become eligible to apply for paid positions.

Who should apply?
• 12-17 year olds that are looking to build their skills while doing meaningful work.
• Individuals with high potential, enthusiasm, and goals that fit the program.
