Description: The Counselors-in-Training program provides participants with significant experiences that build leadership, team work and supervisory skills while providing support for the Summer Camp series staff. Participants will build skills necessary to exercise a strong work ethic and confident leadership. CIT’s will gain experience working with a leading community based agency, working directly with children, behavior management and conflict resolution as well as content knowledge in math, science, art, and creative problem solving. This opportunity is available in the summertime only.
Duties: CIT’s will work closely with Camp Staff to facilitate both planned and spontaneous learning experiences for camp participants. Specific tasks include: facilitating science demonstrations, assisting children with hands- on activities, guiding learning in the community and Museum exhibits and preparing lesson materials. CIT’s will also be empowered to assist teachers with classroom management and student discipline. Opportunities in half day (4-6 year olds) and full day (7-10 year olds) camp sessions are available.
