Community members, businesses and groups are welcome to host an event to benefit Austin Children’s Museum. By choosing ACM as a beneficiary, you are helping to raise awareness and financially support the educational exhibits and programs provided by the Museum.

Hosts assume all responsibility for creating and producing the event and comply with ACM’s Community Fundraiser guidelines. Interested hosts should complete a Community Fundraiser Agreement Form and submit to Austin Children’s Museum so we can recognize your efforts and offer support if we are able.

Please contact the Marketing & Communications Manager, at 512-472-2499 x274 with questions about making ACM a beneficiary of your event.

Community Fundraiser Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in making Austin Children’s Museum a beneficiary of your special event or donation drive. The following guidelines have been developed to protect both the Sponsor (individual, organization or corporation) and Austin Children’s Museum (ACM). To maximize the Museum’s promotional assistance for your event, a minimum of 4 weeks advance notice of your event is requested.

1. ACM will not finance any expenses related to a Community Fundraiser or assume responsibility for any debts incurred.

2. Any use of ACM’s logo or inclusion of the Austin Children’s Museum name in any/all event promotion MUST be approved by ACM. All publicity and/or promotional materials referencing ACM’s involvement must be approved by ACM in advance of the event.

3. Sponsor is responsible for ALL event coordination, marketing, promotion and sales.

4. Sponsor is responsible for complying with all applicable local, state and federal regulations regarding a charitable event. Contact ACM for information and/or guidance regarding these regulations.

5. Sponsor agrees to coordinate with and request permission from ACM before soliciting any individuals, organizations or businesses in order to avoid duplicated efforts.

6. Sponsor must state the terms of the donation ACM can expect from the event (i.e., one time donation of $1,000, 50% of profits or all proceeds) and tender gift within sixty days of the event.

7. A donation solicited on our behalf, whether a donation is an item or cash, is fully tax-deductible only when it is made directly and entirely to ACM. ACM will determine what types of gifts can be considered tax-deductible prior to Sponsor solicitation or promotion, as only ACM can verify that such a gift was made, and its nature, to the IRS. This information must be made explicitly clear in promotion of the Sponsor’s event.

8. When a portion of the ticket price or suggested donation from a participant of the Sponsor’s event is not tax-deductible, the Sponsor must clearly state this on all materials as well as on the Agreement form.

9. ACM is unable to sell tickets, coupons or raffles for any Community Fundraiser.

10. Due to limited resources ACM cannot guarantee volunteers/staff will attend an event.

11. ACM will not solicit participation from members or donors for any Community Fundraiser beyond listing the event information on the ACM web calendar, Facebook page and in the monthly e-newsletter. This is contingent on timing and concurrent scheduled promotions.

12. ACM will not associate with businesses, organizations or individuals known to conduct themselves in a manner that is incompatible with our mission.

All requests for promotional assistance will be considered individually. ACM reserves the right to refuse involvement with an event for any reason. Generally, the following events will not be approved:

  • Events falling in close proximity to an ACM event.
  • Events that rely heavily on the use of, or that require, significant attendance from ACM staff and/or volunteers.
  • Events that require significant response from the ACM mailing list to generate the majority of the event’s revenue.
  • Events involving the sale of tickets or merchandise on the “remit or return” plan or one that employs salespeople on a commission basis.

After reviewing these guidelines, please complete the Community Fundraiser Agreement Form and submit the application to Austin Children’s Museum:
