September 19, 2009 - January 23, 2010

Join forces with the CyberSquad, Matt, Inez, Jackie and Digit, in their quest to save Cyberspace as they zoom into Cyberchase – The Chase Is On!, an out-of-this-world, educational exhibit coming to ACM.

Based on the award-winning PBS KIDS GO! math mystery cartoon Cyberchase, the exhibit presents math in a fun, kid-friendly environment, allowing children to make use of their critical thinking skills and approach math with an investigative, positive attitude.

In Cyberchase, children will enter Cyberspace through a special portal to explore favorite cybersites, including the Control Central, the Grim Wreaker and Poddleville. They will help the CyberSquad protect the virtual universe from the villainous Hacker while exploring math concepts such as place value, algebra, geometry, fractions and probability.

Watch Cyberchase locally on KLRU Channel 18 Tuesday & Thursday at 4:00pm.
Join us for hands-on math activities based on the exhibit on Cyberchase Sundays, 3-5pm on October 25, November 15 & 22. Support provided by IBM.

Cyberchase Exhibit Components

Motherboard’s Control Center
Motherboard, the peace-loving leader of Cyberspace, will greet visitors in Control Central as they investigate the interactive computer stations.
  • Cyberquest Console – Learn about all of the characters in Cyberchase or pick up and complete Cyberchase quests.
  • Restore the Power - Hacker has removed the power circuits to keep Control Central running. To restore the power, children reinsert combinations of fractions to fill the empty slots.
  • Cybercycle - Push pedals or hand crank to add power to Motherboard's reserve battery. Each pedal or crank counts as one power unit.
  • Games Central – Explore a variety of math games at this interactive console

Grim Wreaker
Step into Hacker’s space ship, the Grim Wreaker, which he uses to bring chaos to all of Cyberspace.
  • Find Hacker - Hacker is hiding somewhere in Cyberspace. Use the large map and clues to eliminate possible hiding places of the villian.
  • Stop the Launch - Hacker has set the timer to send a dangerous rocket to destroy Central Control. Find the right combination of levers and switches to deactivate the launch and save Central Control and Motherboard's memory.
  • Flip it, Turn it, Fit it in – Organize the Grim Wreaker’s closet by fitting in as many pieces as possible.
  • Estimate Wig Gels – Guess how many of Hacker’s wig gels fit into different sized storage boxes.

Poddleville
Join the CyberSquad in a variety of adventures in Poddleville, a happy little town of triangles, squares and circles.
  • Poddling Family Patterns - Before they hatch, new Poddlings must be matched to their new family. To find which Poddling goes with which family, children must solve the pattern by choosing the Poddling egg that represents the next family member and place it next to the family.
  • Poddleville Lineup - The police have suspects for a crime committed in Poddleville, but don't know who is guilty. Help the police by viewing the suspects and comparing their shadows with witness descriptions to solve the crime.
  • Poddle Identification – Determine the Poddles’ missing numeric identities by finding their weight.

Jimaya
Join the CyberSquad in this ancient cybersite.
  • Jamayan Mystery - Hacker has hidden the ancient Jamayan statue of Jaguara in the temple walls. Find the right combination of numbers on the grid of twelve tiles to gain access to the statue.

Other Components

  • Rebuild Eureeka – Help rebuild the flattened town of Eureeka by turning 2-D shapes into 3-D buildings.
  • Kahuna-Huna Race-a-Runa – Hacker has ruined the race track for the Mini Prix race. Use knowledge of decimals and combining decimals to rebuild the track for the big race.
  • Dragon Dilemma – Use different strategies to remove dragons from the board. Whatever you do, don’t get stuck with the red dragon!
