  • A ratio of 1 adult for every 5 students is required.
  • No group visits are scheduled during AISD Spring Break and other holidays.
  • The price of a tour is $4.25 per student. Teachers and teacher assistants are free. One chaperone for every five students has free admission. Additional chaperones pay $4.25 each. A limited number of scholarships for Title 1 schools are available. ACM Memberships and other passes are not valid for group visits. Payment is due 30 days prior to visit.
  • Group visits are designed for students in PreK-3rd grade. Custom visits can be created for 4th and 5th graders. Six weeks advance notice is required for a custom visit.

  • Your reservation is not confirmed until you have received your confirmation packet.

Payment & Cancellation
Full payment is due 30 days prior to your visit. All sales are final, no refunds or exchanges. Groups with fewer students than reserved will receive general admission tickets to Austin Children's Museum (one ticket for each student that is paid for but is NOT attending). In the event that schools scheduling under our sponsored Title 1 admission program cancel a tour, there is no guarantee that the Museum will be able to reschedule your visit under the Title 1 admission program (in which case your school could participate at the regular admission rate if there is space available). If cancellation of a tour is necessary, please email the Reservations Coordinator at least three weeks in advance of the scheduled visit.

Prepare for your visit

  • Read all items in your confirmation packet carefully. If you have questions about the implementation of the tour email the Gallery Education Manager
  • Educators can prepare for a tour by visiting the Museum, free of charge, prior to the group visit. Show your School ID to receive free admission.
  • Choose and prepare your chaperones. Distribute the ACM Chaperone letter (English & Spanish) to all chaperones. ACM requires 1 chaperone for every 5 students.
  • Unfortunately, ACM does not have eating accommodations. Please plan accordingly.
  • Every effort will be made to provide a bilingual guide for your tour if applicable; however, we cannot guarantee their availability. Please plan to bring an interpreter if needed for your ESL class.

Arrival

  • Please be punctual. Being on time will ensure that your students get the most out of their visit to the Museum. In order to accommodate the day's tour schedule groups arriving late must still leave at the arranged time on your confirmation.
  • Using the bus lane on 2nd Street, directly in front of the Museum is highly recommended for unloading children so please advise your bus/vehicle driver.
  • When you arrive at the Museum you will be greeted by a Museum staff member who will assist you will all aspects of unloading, entering and coordinating your groups in an efficient manner.
  • Museum staff will assist you in dividing your group into groups of 25 students or less. These groups will each be assigned a Facilitator to guide them through the Museum.
  • Each educator should complete the information on the "Learning is Fun" insert (also found in confirmation packet) prior to arrival. This will ensure a smooth entrance and check in process.

Parking

  • Cars may park at the AMLI parking garage (entrance on Lavaca St. between 2nd and 3rd Streets) or the City Hall Garage (entrance on Guadalupe between Ceasar Chavez and 2nd St.). Drivers should plan to pay between $5-$10 for garage parking. There are also a limited number of parking meters available on a first come first serve basis. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause- please plan accordingly.
  • Using the bus lane on 2nd Street, directly in front of the Museum is highly recommended for unloading children so please advise your bus/vehicle driver.
  • Bus drivers will be advised on parking instructions when they arrive or arrange for parking themselves. (ACM does not own any vehicle parking.)
