4/21/2009 - Discover Engineering Day is May 3rd at Austin Children's Museum

Families are invited to visit Austin Children’s Museum on Sunday, May 3, 12-5pm, for Discover Engineering Day.

Austin, Texas (April 20, 2009) — Families are invited to visit Austin Children’s Museum on Sunday, May 3, 12-5pm, for Discover Engineering Day. Visitors can design, create and explore with real engineers all day in this event hosted by Discover Engineering Central Texas. The first 800 visitors will receive free admission.

Children will have the opportunity to experience real world engineering inspired by the popular PBS television shows Design Squad and Cyberchase. Design challenges include: how to build a lunar lander or a hand grabber, transform a single piece of paper into a doorway or take on a vertical roller coaster.

Professional engineers and students will be on hand to share their enthusiasm about their careers and motivate children to participate in the field later in life

The Discover Engineering Day is sponsored by Discover Engineering Central Texas with additional support provided by Applied Materials and the Texas Girls Collaborative Project. Event Partners include the Society of Women Engineers, Women in Technology International, Girlstart and KLRU/PBS.
