4/5/2007 - Community Night - Spring

Austin Children’s Museum Announces Spring Community Night Performances

Austin, Texas (April 5, 2007) – Hula dancers, puppets, cloggers, and more! This is just a sample of what you might see at Community Night at the Austin Children’s Museum (ACM) this spring. Every Wednesday, ACM stays open late from 5-8pm and hosts educational entertainment featuring musicians, artistic performances and cultural presentations. Each event has a craft activity that complements the theme. Admission is by a suggested donation of $1. It’s fun, educational, affordable family time in the middle of every week!

“One of the goals of this program is to build a stronger sense of community by providing a low-cost activity that lets families from all walks of life learn and laugh together,” said Cybil Gustafson, Gallery Education Manager.

Over 10 community partners have booked participation in ACM’s Community Night so far this year. Partners receive an opportunity to share their work with the Museum’s young visitors and their grown-ups.

All the members of Austin Taiko just love playing at ACM,” said Martha Durham-Boyko, Leader of Austin Taiko. “… after performing for the children and their parents we always feel energized and happy from their enthusiasm and natural curiosity.” Austin Taiko is just one of the partners who have had repeat performances at Community Night.
