Austin Children's Museum Selects Architect Candidates for New Facility

Austin, Texas(May 24, 2007) — The Austin Children’s Museum has selected six architecture firms to interview for the design of its new facility in Block 21. The Museum’s Facility Committee submitted a request for qualifications in April. After rigorous analysis of submissions from across the country, the Committee selected a short list of architects for interviews.
 
The Museum’s Facility Committee is comprised of Museum Board members and community volunteers. The individuals are: Robert Williams, Dell Computer Corporation;Anna Belle Williams, Dell Computer Corporation;Nestor Ho, Silicon Laboratories;Leo Lopez, Catellus;David Knoll, Waterstreet Engineering; and Quen Garza, ACM Board.
 
The chosen architect will work with the Museum Board and staff to design the interior of the 30,000 square-foot facility (50% larger than the current Museum building at 2nd and Colorado) to express and enhance the new mission of Austin Children’s Museum. Interviews will take place in June and the Committee’s final recommendation for Board consideration will be presented in June.
