MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Facilitate both planned and spontaneous informal education experiences that fulfill the mission of the museum
• Act as a guide for school and group tours
• Contribute to the development, maintenance and facilitation of gallery demonstrations and activities
• Prepare and present story times
• Assist with educational programs- both at the museum and offsite
• Greet and assist visitors in gallery spaces in a friendly manner
• Stock and maintain exhibit and gallery supplies
• Daily upkeep of exhibits for safety and cleanliness
• Make periodic checks of public restrooms and service as needed
• Serve on the membership sales team
• Maintain highest possible standard of customer service
• Maintain current knowledge of museum programs, exhibits, events and offerings
• Work a flexible schedule, including some weekends, holidays, and special events
• Attend monthly meetings and Education Department trainings
• Serve as host to a minimum of 3 Birthday parties/facility rentals per month
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Ability to engage with children and adults in an energetic, friendly, positive, and professional manner
• Ability to react positively to rapidly changing circumstances
• Theatrical experience a plus as well as other creative skills such as: singing, musical skills, storytelling, puppetry, etc.
• Teaching/education background or experience a plus
• Experience working with children and families
• Comfortable leading presentations and role playing in a group setting
• Strong customer service skills
• Fluency in Spanish
• Ability to work with staff and public from diverse backgrounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
